Welcome to the Requisite Solutions blog

This is the first post on our new blog, so it seems only right to start by explaining what we intend to do with it.

We implement and support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. That means we spend our days in the detail: configuring systems, writing AL extensions, migrating data from ageing platforms, and answering the support tickets that come in when something doesn’t behave the way it should. A lot of useful knowledge comes out of that work, and most of it currently stays where it was created, in project documentation and ticket threads. This blog is our attempt to bring some of it out into the open.

What we’ll be writing about

Business Central news that actually matters. Microsoft ships two major release waves a year, plus monthly updates in between. The official release notes are thorough but long. We’ll pick out the changes we think will make a real difference to the people using the system day to day, and say plainly which ones you can safely ignore.

Practical guidance. Short, specific pieces on the things we get asked about most often: approvals workflows, dimensions and reporting, bank reconciliation, inventory costing, permission sets, and the perennial question of what to do about Excel.

Notes from real projects. Anonymised where it needs to be, but honest. What went well, what we would do differently, and the decisions that turned out to matter more than they looked at the time.

Technical posts for developers. For those of you working in AL, or integrating with Business Central from the outside, we’ll share patterns, gotchas and the occasional piece of hard-won advice about upgrades and extension design.

Company news. New certifications, new people, partnerships and the odd milestone. We’ll keep this proportionate.

Who it’s for

If you’re already a customer, this should be a useful place to keep an eye on what’s coming and pick up ideas for getting more out of a system you’ve already paid for.

If you’re currently running on an older system and wondering whether Business Central is the right move, we hope these posts give you a clearer, less sales-driven picture of what the platform does well and where it takes effort.

And if you’re a developer or consultant working in the same space, you’re very welcome here too. We’ve learned plenty from other people writing openly about their work, and this is partly a matter of returning the favour.

What we’re promising

Posts written by the people doing the work, not outsourced to a content agency. No filler. Nothing published just to hit a schedule. If we haven’t got something worth saying in a given month, we won’t say anything.

We’d rather this became a conversation than a broadcast, so if there’s a topic you’d like us to cover, or a question you’ve never quite found a good answer to, do get in touch. We’ll happily turn it into a post.
