Dynamics NAV / D365 Business Central Developer

Due to continuing success and growth we are looking for a Dynamics NAV / D365 Business Central Developer who will join an established team supporting an existing customer base and working on development for support and new project work. 

Role includes

Based at the office (Sheffield), occasionally working from home and on customer site.


Work in close collaboration with the support team to identify incoming support requests on the service desk that require technical escalation or classification as change requests.

Where possible provide technical solutions to support incidents.  Where a solution is not possible, take ownership of the issues’ escalation to the appropriate member of the team.

When escalating technical support issues, ensure the relevant information and examples are compiled so that effective actions can be taken by the team.

Work closely with the team so that knowledge on escalated technical solutions are appropriately documented and made available to support using the service desk.

To identify recurring incidents and escalate these appropriately so they might be managed within a structured problem management programme.

Attend weekly support meetings and stand-ups when required.


Take business requirements / specifications and turn these into a low-level technical design and then implement the design.

Configure, develop and deliver MS Dynamics NAV software and components in all functional areas.

Create/modify existing customisations and integrations as requested by the business.

Debug system problems, design and implement resolutions.

Installation and implementation of service packs and fixes.

Support and drive process change and communication in line with NAV / BC best practice.

Assist with functional specifications of customisations and integrations required for NAV / BC implementations.

Work with the team to gather requirements and provide estimates.

Take responsibility for delivering development tasks within agreed timelines.


Strong programming background in Microsoft .NET and related technologies.

Good understanding of database structure.

Experience of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems Server 2008 or later.

Experience of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later, knowledge of backup/restore of databases, TSQL.

Excellent communication skills.

Logical approach to troubleshooting.

Be willing to undertake any appropriate training for this role.

Comfortable working under pressure and a calm approach to managing time effectively.

You must have a clean driving licence.

Preferable Skills/Experience

Experience working with Dynamics NAV / D365 Business Central.

Minimum two years of experience working as a developer for a software solution provider.
